Mind+Thought(s)+Choice(s) = Consequence

The model I created has changed my life tremendously. I still live by this model and it helps me understand that I am in control of my life. I will break it down and explain each part and I encourage you to try it. If you use this model, it can help you change your life.


MIND

The mind is the important organ in our body. It can improve your life if it is strong. When your mind is weak it can destroy your life. I consider the mind like a computer hard drive, it stores a lot of info good or bad the same as a computer. The mind has to be reprogrammed first if you want to improve your life or your circumstance. This is called Renewing Your Mind. This process is done by taking the negative things and behaviors that have been programmed over our life span and replacing them with positive things and behaviors. After you renew your mind you are one step closer to managing your situation and life.


THOUGHTS

The definition for thoughts is an idea or opinion produced by thinking or occurring suddenly in the mind. The King James Version (KJV) bible says: For as he thinketh (thoughts) in his heart, so is he (Proverbs 23:7).


Your thoughts affect your mind in either a positive or a negative way. Have you ever been excited to do something, then someone gives you negative feedback about your idea and all of a sudden, your excitement dwindles and you begin to doubt your great idea? This is an example of how powerful our thoughts can be. Or maybe you want to try something new but are not sure about it, and then someone tells you what a great idea it is or how awesome you would be at it. This positive encouragement can help build positive thinking and self-confidence and you begin to think that you would be good at it and decide to implement your great idea successfully.

Going back to the computer analogy, if you mind is a computer hard drive, and then your thought process is the operating system. If you maintain the hard drive, i.e. frequent scans for viruses, updating drivers etc., the hard drive functions smoothly. If you do not maintain the hard drive and neglect the computer virus scans and driver updates, the computer begins to run more slowly and eventually fails altogether. It is important feed your mind with positive thinking. You know the old saying, garbage in, garbage out. You must learn how to feed your mind with thoughts that create positive actions. This takes practice but can be done. The choice is yours.


CHOICES

I like the Webster’s dictionary definition of choice. A choice is defined as an act of selecting or making a decision when faced with two or more possibilities. We are always faced with choices when we are trying to make decisions. In this model, a choice is the action that will bring you closer to changing your life. Sometimes the inability to make a choice can work against you, keeping you from changing your life. If you program your mind to become more aware of your thoughts, and the possible options, your mind will guide you into making a better, healthier choice. Using this model the result will always be positive.


CONSEQUENCES

The definition of consequence is the result or effect of an action or condition. Consequence is the part of the model that is a result of our behavior or choice. A consequence can be positive and reward you in some way or it can be negative, and it will penalize you in some way. When our choices have positive consequences, you begin to lead the life you want. When our choices have negative consequences, you may feel depressed, anxious and stressed out because this is not how you envisioned your life to be. Consequences cannot be successful if you don’t correct the mind, thoughts or choices. If you neglect the first three of this model, the consequence will stay the same.


We are constantly presented with circumstances, some may be good ending with a positive result, and others may be bad and end with a negative result. When I am approached with a thought that I know will result in a negative consequence, I use this model and work towards turning it into a positive consequence. If this is used properly and consistently, you will begin to notice dramatic positive changes in your life.
